Programs and family supports that help neurodivergent children connect, explore, regulate, and grow in a supportive environment while helping families build community through shared experiences and collective growth.

Our Approach

Support Comes First

Every program at The Fort is shaped around small groups, responsive support, and a sensory-aware environment where children can connect, explore, and build confidence at their own pace.
Child-Led Exploration
Hands-on activities, play, and discovery that follow each child’s interests, strengths, and pace.
Supported Connection
Small group opportunities for children to build peer relationships, practice social skills, and feel part of a safe, supportive community.
Regulated Environment
Predictable rhythms, thoughtful spaces, and strategic support help children feel safe, understood, and ready to engage.

Ages 5-12

Kids Explore

A time for students on a home or alternative learning plan to connect with others while engaging in hands-on, child-led learning.

Best for: Students who would benefit from consistent peer connection, child-led exploration, and a supportive small-group environment.

Good to know: Kids Explore is a 12-week program for students on a home or alternative learning plan, with consistent peer connection and hands-on, child-led learning.

Kids Connect

An opportunity to engage in supported peer connections to help develop social and regulation skills.

Best for: Children who would benefit from supported social time, peer interaction, and strategic help with regulation after school.

Good to know: Kids Connect offers supported after-school peer connection, with strategic help for children practicing social skills, communication, and regulation.

Evenings

Kids Relax

An evening of fun with rotating themes. Adults can enjoy an evening out while children enjoy themselves in a supported, regulated environment.

Best for: Children who enjoy themed activities and social time in a supported evening environment.

Good to know: Kids Relax includes rotating themes and evening activities in a supported, regulated environment. If your child may need extra support, please contact us before registering so we can plan ahead.

For Families

Families Connect

An invitation for families to casually connect through play and exploration in a regulated environment.

Best for: Families looking for a low-pressure way to connect, play, and explore together.

Good to know: Families Connect is designed for shared family participation, with adults attending alongside children. Each visit requires at least one adult, with a maximum of two adults per child.

One-on-One

Family Supports

One-on-one help with navigating school and community supports, assessments, resources, advocacy, and family goals.

Best for: Caregivers who are looking for support understanding next steps, finding resources, advocating for their child, or setting meaningful goals.

Good to know: Family Supports can be used for focused guidance around your child’s needs, available resources, school conversations, assessments, advocacy, or planning next steps.

Tea and Teachings

An educational opportunity using a variety of resources to help support current challenges the caregiver community is facing.

Best for: Caregivers looking for practical learning, shared resources, and support around common family challenges.

Good to know: Tea and Teachings offers space to learn, reflect, and gather helpful tools alongside other caregivers.

Support Options

Levels of Support

The Fort’s programs are designed as small groups with a 7:1 participant-to-staff ratio, with additional support available for some children when arranged in advance.
Small groups
Programs are designed to support children in small-group settings with a 7:1 participant-to-staff ratio.
Additional support
Children requiring more support may be able to access 1:1 support when arranged in advance through pre-registration.
Planning ahead
If your child may need 1:1 support, please contact us before registering so we can plan the right level of support.
Funding and Billing
We can bill families directly with receipts for reimbursement, or bill approved government programs and agencies through direct-pay. Ask us if you’re unsure what applies.
